Satellite High Speed Internet Access - Here Are Some Benefits

By Carl Langlois

If you're living in a rural area then you know that having fast internet is often an issue. Satellite high speed internet access lets you enjoy the benefits of broadband internet. That's good news for those who can't get cable internet or DSL.

There's just no comparison to dial up. Satellite speed is at least 10 times faster. And just so you know, that's fast enough to be able to check your email and surf the net and not waste time having to wait for pages to load.

You won't have to worry about missing that important phone call while you are online or having to wait to use the phone while someone else is online. The only solution with dial up was investing in a dedicated phone line to be used strictly for internet. The cost of that adds up, and that's if you even live where you can get an extra line.

If you're trying to operate a home office using dial up, you know how frustrating it can be trying to work with a client who has high speed internet. The fact is you won't be able to keep up with them in real time is unprofessional.

And there are more than a few things you won't be able to do at all if you're using a dial up service. For example, trying to run an e-commerce store using dial up is pretty well impossible. It will take what seems like forever for your images to load, any stock to be updated, or all-important orders to be processed.

These problems quickly disappear when you have satellite internet.

Another unique benefit of satellite high speed internet access is the chance that you can work from home rather than commuting to a job. More businesses today offer this option to employees in order to cut down on costs as well as to increase efficiency. If you commute to work, you save money and time. The money you save will most likely cover the cost of a satellite internet service.

You won't be able to take advantage of this work at home option with a dial-up connection. Even transferring large files is too much for a dial-up service. And just attempting to be part of an online meeting where even small amounts of information need to be viewed or transferred online isn't workable.

Another reason to seriously think about satellite internet comes if you're thinking about running a home based business involving the internet. To run a business like that successfully, you must be able to check orders fast, respond to emails or instant messages right away, work with clients who have broadband, send and receive graphic rich files, and more. Trying to do that using a dial-up service is next to impossible.

There are only a couple of issues that you may have to deal with if you're using satellite internet. First of all, the only time you could experience even temporary service interruption is during a bad storm. This interruption usually clears up quickly once the storm passes.

A second issue is latency. This is a very slight pause in the transfer of information which most times you won't even notice. The only time latency may be a problem is if you need to give an instant response like when you're playing live online games, or if you're trying to place a bid on an auction so it happens as it expires.

In spite of these minor issues, satellite internet is a much better option than dial-up internet. That's because you can live in the country while still enjoying all the benefits of fast internet with satellite high speed internet access. There's sure to be a satellite company with a plan to suit your needs.
